Every month, POC provides an incredible opportunity to engage with a vibrant community of learners. Each day, we gather in the Learning Lab to practice English in a supportive atmosphere. Monthly, we connect with over 100 guests from more than 14 countries, all eager to sharpen their language skills and become active members of their community. To ensure our guests feel at home and part of their new environment, we proudly collaborate with exceptional partners who generously share their insights, experiences, and resources.

In the past quarter alone, we have hosted representatives from the Palatine Police,  Palatine Bank & Trust, Endeavor Health's Community Health Nurse, Harper College, and Shadrach the Comfort Dog from Prince of Peace, all of whom provided invaluable information and support to our guests. Together, we will build a stronger community!

The Learning Lab benefits from the support of volunteers. This year, 23 volunteers provided weekly assistance to our clients. With nearly 2,300 hours of service valued at $75,000, we could not fulfill the mission of POC without them. Volunteers provide a welcoming and safe space for individuals to pursue their dreams and goals. Many of our volunteers are retired professionals from fields such as nursing, teaching, and engineering, or they may have devoted their lives to raising families as "domestic engineers," eager to give back to their communities.
