Spotlight on Autumn: POC Volunteer, Staff, Teacher

19 October 2026

POC is powered by so many invested community members who make our programs possible. Autumn started with POC as a high school volunteer and then worked as staff. She’s now a teacher in a community school district and wanted her to share how her POC experience continued to impact her life.

"My experience with POC serves as an optimistic reminder that society is filled with so many great people. Through countless interactions, I have grown more confident in working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Every POC program is so thoughtful and beneficial to its community. I volunteered as a young high schooler, but the experience helped me so much with my career, the interview process, and general interactions with all members in society.

Volunteering and then working at POC reminded me of the importance of humility in our everyday interactions, and inspired me to implement similar programs in other communities in the future.

I always felt so supported by POC because everyone you interact with there is just willing and wanting to help make our world better. The impact was so clear, and the appreciation was often vocalized.

Every staff member I worked or volunteered with cared so deeply about our community and the people within it. Everyone went above and beyond to help me and those who they were serving, which created the utmost welcoming and supportive environment.

My involvement with POC led to so many benefits that I could not have even imagined when I started.

Every POC program is so thought out and beneficial to its community. I volunteered just as a young high schooler, but the experience helped me so much with my career, the interview process, and general interactions with all members in society." — Autumn
